Outside Awards and Financial Resources Reporting Form

In order to ensure your financial aid package is correct, students are required to report any outside scholarships, tuition benefits, or other financial aid resources.

To ensure that your financial aid package and student account are accurate, you must report any scholarships, benefits, or other financial resources you receive from sources outside of Denison University, even if the funds are paid directly to you.

Outside awards are not credited toward the university bill until payment is received.

Receiving an outside scholarship, tuition benefit, or other financial resource may result in a reevaluation of your financial aid eligibility to ensure compliance with federal regulations, state requirements, and institutional policies. However, 529 college savings plan distributions are not considered an outside financial resource for this purpose and will not result in a reevaluation of your financial aid package.

Examples of outside resources include:

Private scholarships
Employer-provided tuition benefits
VA educational benefits
529 plan distributions
State grants
Tuition assistance from military, civic, religious, or community organizations
Any other funding that helps pay your educational expenses

Add Another Scholarship/Resource

To be approved for campus move-in, documentation must be provided to verify the source and amount of the funds you will be using to pay your balance. Acceptable documentation may include an award letter, check, email stating the award details, or bank deposit confirmation. Please note that the actual funds must be received by Denison before they can be credited to your student account. Before uploading any documents, be sure to redact personally identifiable information such as Social Security numbers.

Crediting Your Bill

1. Unless otherwise requested, outside awards will be divided equally between the fall and spring semesters. Renewable awards must be reported each academic year.
2. Outside awards will not be credited to your student account until the funds are received by Denison University.

If, for any reason, the funds are not received, it is your responsibility to contact the resource to ensure payment is sent, or you cannot be approved to move onto campus and/or a hold may be placed on your account preventing you from confirming classes, registering for classes, or participating in the housing lottery.
